Teach For China candidates can submit an online application for one of our four deadlines:

• Deadline 1: September 23rd 2012 11:59pm EDT
• Deadline 2: October 21st 2012  11:59pm EDT
• Deadline 3: January 20th 2013  11:59pm EST
• Deadline 4: February 24th 2013 11:59pm EST
• Deadline 5: March 31st 2013 11:59pm EST

For the online application, candidates are required to submit basic biographical information, academic and professional experiences, upload their current resume and answer two short responses of 500 words or less.  Only one application per candidate may be submitted each academic year.

Applications are non-binding. Subsequent rounds of the application process may include a phone interview, and all candidates will have a final in-person interview. All candidates that are accepted into the Fellowship will begin Summer Institute Training in China in July 2013 regardless of which application deadline they apply to.

Before you select when to apply, please ensure that you will not have any scheduling conflicts with required phone or final in-person interview dates. While you should choose a deadline based on the timeline that works best for you, there are specific advantages to selecting an earlier deadline, including:

• Earlier notification of your admissions status
• Access to more available phone and final interview timeslots

Phone Interviews

Some candidates may be asked to participate in a phone interview so that our selections team can learn more about the applicant before we extend an invitation to attend the final in-person interview.  Some candidates will be invited directly to the final in-person interview.   Please note that an invitation to a phone interview will not affect a candidate’s chance of admission to Teach For China during the final in-person interview.

Final Interviews

For each deadline, interviews will be offered at select major cities.  Please refer to the table below for more specific details.  

Please note that while the dates for interviews do not change, the number of interview days offered in each city during each deadline may vary from one to four days.  Additional information will be available when candidates are invited to attend the final interview.

Teach For China does not cover any expenses (travel or accommodations) related to the final interview.   It is expected and strongly recommended that candidates will attend the final in-person interview if they live within 300 miles of any of the interview cities.  If you are unable to attend an in-person interview, you may formally request to have a final phone interview in place of the final in-person interview.  Please note that each request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. You may send in your request for a final phone interview three weeks before the in-person interview date and no earlier to selections@tfchina.org.
